Staurogyne sp.'Porto velho' This plant, sometimes known as Porto Velho, is a member of the Acanthaceae family.
Common names: Staurogyne Porto Velho , Hygrophila Porto Velho and Hygrophila Roraima
In Japan, the plant is more popular and can be seen growing as a foreground plant in aquariums.
Staurogyne sp. 'Porto Velho' resembles Hygrophila sp. 'Roraima,' and aquarists frequently mix the two.
The plant is thought to be slower growing and less demanding than most aquarium plants.
The leaves of Staurogyne sp. 'Porto Velho' are thin lanceolate with an apiculate tip.
The leaves are normally green, but after a while they become greyish green, providing a striking perspective of the aquarium.
Some of them also have purple leaves. Unlike S. repens, it has light brown stems with no hair.
The plant's creeping habit makes it ideal for usage as a foreground plant.
Porto Velho takes some time to acclimate to the new artificial ecosystem, but having adjusted, it multiplies and flourishes profusely.
This characteristic of the plant necessitates constant trimming.
