Rotala rotundifolia 'Hi Red' Pot JR10

Rotala rotundifolia 'Hi Red' can be found in a Vietnamese province. Due to its remarkably deep red narrow pointed leaves that develop when this plant is grown in submerged settings, it is highly popular in the planted aquarium hobby.

The growth habit is almost identical to R. rotundifolia 'Green,' as it can grow downwards under light conditions after reaching a certain height. Limiting the amount of nitrogen in the water column might make the pink colour of the leaves more intense.

However, if fertiliser capsules containing Nitrate are added to the substrate, good fertilisation with CO2 addition can cause a plant to continuously produce red-colored leaves. Although this plant can survive in low CO2 environments and lush growth.

Rotala rotundifolia ‘Hi Red’ is also sold as another variant of R. rotundifolia. Most probably this variant is nothing but R. rotundifolia ‘H’ra’.
