Callicostella prabhaktina: This moss is provided by ADA as a novelty.
Callicostella prabaktiana is found throughout Southeast Asia in moist to wet habitats, such as stream edges. It can grow both above and below ground.
This medium to dark green moss has a creeping growth habit in aquariums and attaches itself to wood or rock.
Callicostella prabaktiana grows slowly in aquariums but is not difficult to care for.
However, we recommend at least medium lighting and a steady supply of CO₂ and nutrients. It works best when attached to driftwood or stones.
This rare moss is useful for greening up hardscapes and small aquariums.
Although Callicostella prabaktiana appears to be relatively low maintenance, it can grow quite slowly when grown submerged.
This moss's growth pattern makes it particularly intriguing as an epiphytic plant since its branches cling to the substrate and bind to it firmly with their rhizoids.
Like "Weeping Moss," loose shoots of this plant grow downward (Vesicularia ferriei). C. prabaktiana creates a dense "flowing" mat when it is strung to rocks or driftwood with fishing line or a similar material.
