Anubias gracilis (Pot)
Anubias gracilis is a larger Anubias species that grows as a seasonally flooded plant along West African rainforest rivers.
It is a very beautiful Anubias species, with triangular leaf blades that are long and slender petioles.
When the plant is grown in water, the leaf blades grow to be about 5-10 cm long. It works well as an epiphyte in the hardscape.
It can be planted in the bottom layer as long as the robust, thick rhizome is not buried in the soil, or else the plant would decay.
It is an undemanding plant that is ideal for beginner aquariums and cichlid tanks.
When grown submerged in an aquarium, this plant stays much smaller than the emersed variety. It grows quite slowly.
It can grow out of the water in shallow tanks and paludariums, although the plant grows substantially larger in this state.
This tough bog plant is ideal for emersed culture in large damp terraria and paludaria, where it can grow to a good height. It requires very little light.
Care Tips
- It is a good idea to keep Anubias plants in areas of a tank that get shade.
- Aquarium water conditions should be consistent
