Activated Carbon - 1 kg is an essential filter media for every aquarium.

Activated carbon is commonly used in aquariums for its ability to remove impurities and pollutants from the water.

How it's Activated Carbon got?

Steam activation is used to make granular activated charcoal from coconut shell charcoal.

The coconut shell charcoal is put into the rotary kiln and activated by steam at a high temperature, causing impurities to evaporate and pores on the surface to open up.

To obtain the necessary size, the granular activated carbon large particles are crushed and sieved.

often used in drinking water treatment, to adsorb natural organic molecules, taste and odor compounds, and manufactured organic chemicals.

Features

  • Activated carbon acts as a chemical filter by adsorbing various organic and inorganic compounds, including dissolved organic matter, chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, pesticides, and medications. This helps improve water quality and reduces potential harm to aquatic life.
  • Activated carbon helps eliminate unpleasant odors that may arise from decaying organic matter, fish waste, or food residues in the aquarium. It also helps in clearing water discoloration caused by tannins released from driftwood or other natural materials.
  • When medications or other chemicals are added to an aquarium, they may be beneficial for treating certain diseases or conditions. However, once their purpose is served, it is crucial to remove them from the water to prevent adverse effects on fish and other inhabitants. Activated carbon aids in removing residual medications and chemicals from the aquarium water.
  • Certain substances, such as ammonia, nitrite, and some heavy metals, can be toxic to aquarium inhabitants. While activated carbon is not primarily designed for removing these substances, it can help to some extent by adsorbing small amounts. It should be noted that proper biological filtration, through the use of beneficial bacteria, is essential for effectively controlling ammonia and nitrite levels.
  • Activated carbon can contribute to improving water clarity by removing fine particles and suspended matter, leading to a clearer and visually appealing aquarium.

Benefits

  • Keeps water looking crystal clear
  • Eliminate odors, detoxifies harmful metals
  • Purifies and soften the water absorb chemical residue
  • Longer shelf life Non-hazardous

Application

Water Purification and Air Purification. Aquarium & Fish Tanks. Antibacterial. Effluent Treatment Plant. Groundwater Remediation. Process Water Treatment. Municipal Water Treatment. Waste Water Treatment Catalyst in Chemical-Metallurgical Industries. Swimming Pools for De-Chlorination. Purification of Drinking Water. Glycol Purification and Recycling. Absorption of Dissolved Organic Matter. Water Gas Mask Filters. Colour Removal.

Please note:

Activated carbon needs to be periodically replaced or recharged, as its adsorption capacity diminishes over time. The frequency of replacement depends on factors such as the size of the aquarium, stocking levels, and the amount of pollutants present in the water.
