It develops superb wine-red leaves under favourable conditions &#8211; strong lighting, good CO\u2082 supply, nutrient-rich substrate, temperatures not permanently above 25 \u00b0C. This Ludwigia species is found in southeastern North American marshes. In trade, it is frequently mislabeled as &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ludwigia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> perennis&#8221; or &#8220;Ludwigia peruensis.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It looks best in the midground as a standalone clump of stems of various lengths. It has erect, slightly branching, strong submerged stems that are densely set with small, lanceolate leaves, unlike other <em>Ludwigias<\/em>. <em>Ludwigia<\/em> glandulosa is an excellent accent plant because of its vivid hue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ludwigia <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">glandulosa (ssp. glandulosa and ssp. brachycarpa), a cylindric-fruited primrose willow, is widespread in most of the southeastern United States. To the north, it has a distribution region that includes Illinois and Indiana. Wetland areas are preferred, but wet road ditches are also ok.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Indiana and Louisiana, despite its widespread distribution, it is classified as endangered or severely endangered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is commonly sold under the incorrect name &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ludwigia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> perennis,&#8221; which is the name of another species found in Asia, Africa, and Australia and is not a synonym for L. glandulosa.
