It&#8217;s most common in saltwater, but it can also be found in freshwater. Although Velvet is not as frequent as Ich, the therapy is nearly comparable. Ichthyophthirius<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(freshwater) \/\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cryptocaryon<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(saltwater)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The fish&#8217;s bodies and fins appear to be covered in salt. Twitching, flashing, and other symptoms of stress and irritation are usually present. This name is applied to several parasites, but the symptoms are nearly identical. Ich is one of the most prevalent fish illnesses, and it is completely treated with care and attention to water quality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Treatment Period:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">14 days at a full concentration (0.25 mg\/L for freshwater, 0.5 mg\/L for saltwater) is recommended as a treatment period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Instructions and dosages<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Remove all invertebrates before treating them, or treat them in a hospital tank if possible. Copper treatments are toxic to invertebrates, so this drug should not be utilized in systems with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Remove any chemical filtration, such as MatrixCarbon and Purigen, and turn off UV and ozone filters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Use with caution if you are taking any other medications. While taking Cupramine, avoid using any products that include reducing agents (conditioners, ammonia binders, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dosage<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If the bottle has a dropper cap, use 20 drops (1 mL) per 40 L (10.5 US gallons) on the first day. On non-dropper caps, each inner ring is 1 mL.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wait 48 hours, then repeat the dose.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Test Copper levels after each dose. Although most fish tolerate Cupramine to 0.8 mg\/L, it is not advisable to exceed 0.6 mg\/L copper.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Leave at this concentration for 14 days. Do not dose without testing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Complete the treatment<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Many parasites, including ich, velvet, and others, spend a major amount of their life cycle as a cyst that is resistant to medication and hides in the substrate of your aquarium. Even if you don&#8217;t notice parasites on the fish, you must complete the entire treatment!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After Treating<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cupramine can be removed using carbon or CupriSorb.
