Rotala mexicana 'Goias' is a vibrant and relatively rare aquatic plant popular among aquarists for its unique appearance and relatively easy care. It is known for its dense, bushy growth and the striking coloration of its leaves, which can range from green to pinkish-red under the right conditions.

The leaves of Rotala mexicana 'Goias' are small, narrow, and elongated, growing in opposite pairs along the stem. They can exhibit a range of colors from green to reddish-pink, depending on the lighting and nutrient conditions.

The stems are thin and can grow vertically, creating a bushy, compact appearance. This makes it an ideal plant for midground placement in an aquarium.

Rotala mexicana 'Goias' thrives under moderate to high lighting. Intense light helps bring out its vibrant colors, especially the reddish hues.

This plant prefers a temperature range of 68-82°F (20-28°C), which makes it suitable for most tropical aquariums.

It does well in soft to moderately hard water. The ideal pH range is 6.0 to 7.5.

Rotala mexicana 'Goias' benefits from a nutrient-rich environment. Regular fertilization with liquid fertilizers that contain micronutrients, particularly iron, will enhance its growth and coloration. CO2 supplementation can also promote healthier and more vibrant growth.

This plant has a moderate to fast growth rate under optimal conditions. Regular trimming helps maintain its compact, bushy form.

Propagation: Rotala mexicana 'Goias' is easily propagated by cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem and replant it in the substrate. The cutting will develop roots and continue to grow.

Plant Format

Tissue Culture

Tissue culture plants are young aquatic plants that are developed in-vitro in aquatic plant propagation laboratories. This unique cultivation ensures these plants are devoid of undesired snails, algae, and pesticides, making them completely safe for even the most delicate fish and shrimp species.

We offer a diverse range of tissue cultured aquarium plant varieties. Our cultures provide substantial planting portions, and when combined with high-quality fertilizers and CO₂ injection will grow into healthy aquatic plants.

Just lower the root portion of the tissue culture's clump that needs to be planted directly into the soil until it is buried halfway into the aquatic soil.
