Myriophyllum Mattogrossense - IC406
Myriophyllum Mattogrossense TC gets its name from Mato Grosso, it's found throughout western Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, as well as Colombia and Bolivia.
The name Myriophyllum comes from Greek: Myrios means "thousands," and phylum means "leaf." This plant belongs to the Haloragaceae family and is found throughout South America and the United States.
Medium-light (0.5 watts per liter) and minimal CO₂ infusion are required for this species. Green Milfoil will grow large, healthy leaf whorls even without a lot of light and CO₂, while more light and CO₂ will help it grow even quicker and bigger. The plant is unconcerned about nitrate or phosphate levels, yet higher levels will result in faster growth.
However, the whiteness of the shoot tips is a sure symptom of a lack of iron or other micronutrients.
The Green Milfoil must be pruned back periodically due to its rapid growth. You can either replant the clipped shoot tips in the substrate or discard them and let the plant grow back. Cutting and replanting is a simple method of propagation.
This plant is ideal for someone new to the aquarium hobby, and its lush green color makes it suitable for use as a background or midground filler plant.
Care Tips
- Pruning will be required to ensure other plants are not shaded from lighting.
- CO₂ injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
Plant Format
Tissue Culture
Tissue culture plants are young aquatic plants that are developed in-vitro in aquatic plant propagation laboratories. This unique cultivation ensures these plants are devoid of undesired snails, algae, and pesticides, making them completely safe for even the most delicate fish and shrimp species.
We offer a diverse range of tissue cultured aquarium plant varieties. Our cultures provide substantial planting portions, and when combined with high-quality fertilizers and CO₂ injection will grow into healthy aquatic plants.
Just lower the root portion of the tissue culture's clump that needs to be planted directly into the soil until it is buried halfway into the aquatic soil.
