The Hygrophila sp. 'Araguaia' is a popular aquatic plant among aquarists, known for its distinctive red coloration and narrow, sharp leaves. This plant is native to South America, particularly the Araguaia River basin in Brazil, hence its name.

The plant features elongated, narrow leaves that can range from green to deep red, depending on the lighting and nutrient conditions.

It typically grows in a creeping or spreading fashion, making it ideal for foreground or mid-ground placement in aquariu

It generally reaches a height of 10-20 cm (4-8 inches).

Medium to high lighting is recommended to encourage the red coloration and healthy growth. Under low light, the plant tends to stay more green and less vibrant.

While not absolutely necessary, supplementing with CO2 can promote faster growth and more vivid colors.

Prefers slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0-7.5) and a temperature range of 22-28°C (72-82°F).

A nutrient-rich substrate helps in healthy root development and overall plant vigor.

Regular dosing with liquid fertilizers containing micronutrients and macronutrients will support its growth.

Hygrophila sp. 'Araguaia' can be propagated through cuttings. Simply trim the stem and replant it in the substrate, where it will develop roots and continue to grow.

Tissue Culture

Tissue culture plants are young aquatic plants that are developed in-vitro in aquatic plant propagation laboratories. This unique cultivation ensures these plants are devoid of undesired snails, algae, and pesticides, making them completely safe for even the most delicate fish and shrimp species.

We offer a diverse range of tissue cultured aquarium plant varieties. Our cultures provide substantial planting portions, and when combined with high-quality fertilizers and CO₂ injection will grow into healthy aquatic plants.

Just lower the root portion of the tissue culture's clump that needs to be planted directly into the soil until it is buried halfway into the aquatic soil.
