Staurogyne repens is a South American small stem plant known for its low bushy size, fresh and brilliant green leaves, slow but consistent growth, resilience, and capacity to carpet. This plant is perfect for beginners as a foreground or ground cover plant because it tolerates a broad range of water conditions and can last several weeks without needing to be trimmed.
Staurogyne repens feed mostly from the ground. That is, the majority of its sustenance comes straight from the substrate. This could be a mix of small pebbles and aquarium soil, or it could just be aquarium soil.
It was discovered in the southern Amazonas’ Rio Cristalino. The closest relative in the aquarist is Hygrophila, however, Staurogyne is distinguished by its compact, low, and bushy stature (5-10 cm) and leaves that are 3.4 cm wide on each stem. The longest upright stems should be clipped off during aquarium planting, and new horizontally creeping shoots will emerge from the plant base and eventually colonize the gravel. Staurogyne Repens Tropica TC is a robust and vital plant that thrives in medium to high light with CO₂ supplementation.
Care Tips
- Staurogyne repens will need to be kept in at least a 10-gallon tank.
- The water temperature should be between 68 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit; it will grow and look best at a temperature in the middle of this range.
Tissue culture plants are young aquatic plants that are developed in-vitro in aquatic plant propagation laboratories. This unique cultivation ensures these plants are devoid of undesired snails, algae, and pesticides, making them completely safe for even the most delicate fish and shrimp species. We offer a diverse range of tissue cultured aquarium plant varieties. Our cultures provide substantial planting portions, and when combined with high-quality fertilizers and CO₂ injection will grow into healthy aquatic plants. Just lower the root portion of the tissue culture's clump that needs to be planted directly into the soil until it is buried halfway into the aquatic soil.Plant Format
