It prefers consistently moist soil. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. It’s important to strike a balance to prevent both underwatering and overwatering. Check the top inch of soil and water when it feels slightly dry.

Fittonia is generally relatively pest-resistant. However, it can be susceptible to common houseplant pests like aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Inspect the plant regularly, and if you notice any pests, treat them with appropriate insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.

1. Fittonia appreciates high humidity levels. You can increase humidity around the plant by misting the leaves regularly or placing a humidifier nearby. Another option is to create a pebble tray by filling a tray with water and placing the plant on top, ensuring the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the pot.
2. Use a well-draining, peat-based soil mixture for Fittonia. This allows for proper drainage while retaining adequate moisture. Adding perlite or sand to the soil mixture can enhance drainage.
