Vesicularia Dubyana 'Java Moss' on Mesh: Java moss is a native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Japan, Java, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and parts of Southern India.

They are widely produced in tropical forest terrains, tree trunks, rocks, and waterway banks.

Java moss, unlike most water plants, lacks roots. Instead, it's made up of twisted, slender green stems with small leaves.

Rather than growing in soil and relying on roots for support, it uses these stems to firmly anchor itself to surfaces such as rocks.

It receives nutrients through its leaves and stems, as do most plants that do not grow in soil, thus it is not a root feeder.

This is a low-maintenance plant that is ideal for novices and does not necessitate the use of a green thumb.

There's no need for high-tech aquarium setups or complicated dosing schedules here: low light works just fine.

Added nutrients, such as liquid plant food or CO₂, are welcomed but not required in most circumstances.

You can attach Java moss to pretty much any surface and that includes décor like driftwood, rocks, and commercial products like shrimp caves.

Care tips

• Java moss will likely require a trim sooner or later to stay healthy, especially if it’s growing vigorously and densely.
• Parts of Java moss that aren’t receiving fresh water will eventually brown and die off so thin out the moss enough to ensure the water current can reach all parts of it. These regular trimmings will also keep the moss shaped the way it’s supposed to be.
