Micranthemum 'monte carlo'  is a gorgeous low-growing aquatic plant that is grown by aquarists and is commonly known as Monte Carlo.

Common names: Tweedie's pearlweed, Montecarlo pearlweed, New Large Pearl Grass, Bacopita.

The ease of maintenance and developing habit make it one of the greatest tank pants.

Micranthemum is native to New Zealand and is a member of the Phrymaceae family.

The plant's growth and look make it suitable for growing as a foreground plant.

If the proper lighting, pH, and water parameters are followed, the leaves will develop and spread like a green carpet.

At the same time, regular trimming is required to maintain the desired growth. It is frequently recommended for beginning aquarists.

Monte Carlo is a creeping plant that grows compactly in the tank and produces small, spherical, brilliantly bright, and light green leaves.

It can be used for aquascaping and giving the tank a carpet-like appearance by matching it with a naturally toned substrate.

Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' closely resembles Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC/Dwarf Baby Tears).

The sole difference is that Monte Carlo is easier to cultivate and has smaller leaves. The plant can grow to a height of 1-2".

Care tips:

  • It requires the temperature between the range 18 to 2 degree Celsius.
  • Monte Carlo requires high lighting to keep it low growing along with carbon dioxide injection.
