The houseboat is an excellent piece of decoration in your office, drawing room, or bedroom, and a fantastic gift item during events, birthdays, anniversaries, festivals, marriages, social events, awards functions, and corporate gifting.
Houseboats are massive, slow-moving, unique barges meant for pure pleasure journeys in Kerala. They are modern interpretations of traditional Kettuvallams. Vallam signifies rural boats and Kettu denotes binding.
Previously, these Kettuvallams were used to transport rice, spices, and other items between Kuttanad and the Cochin port.
A House Boat (constructed of hundreds of elegant but heavy-duty jack-wood planks) is kept together entirely by coir knots (not a single nail is used).
After that, the structure is covered with a caustic black resin derived from boiled cashew nuts. It also lasts for generations.
Local carpenters make houseboats using ancient concepts and techniques.Â
