Rock, paper, scissors–rock always wins.
Dragon rock also called an ‘Ohko Stone’ is a clastic sedimentary rock composed of clay minerals and other minute particles of organic matter washed up on the shore by waves of water.
The name “dragon stone” comes from the scaly, dragon-like texture of the stone.
It’s light brown, dark yellow with red or green reflections.
It has beautiful natural nooks, crannies, and crevices of varying depths on the surface.
It is a lightweight rock but looks super hard and strong, it also looks like petrified wood or driftwood. The density of every piece differs.
A rocky hardscape can help shy fish like bettas relax while also providing lots of stimulation.
A loved rock by aquascapers due to its high clay content.
Dragon Stone has become very popular with iwagumi aquariums where the main focus is on the rocks and the plants complement the overall setup.
Why is it an ideal pick by aquascapers ?
Dragon stone is a well-designed hardscape that will also provide lots of opportunities for tank residents to explore, hide, and relax.
Dragon stone requires slightly acidic water with a pH of less than seven. With an acidic tank, each rock will degrade and weather more slowly, keeping your aquascape looking beautiful for longer.
