Anubias Coffeefolia (Anubias barteri “Coffeefolia”) is one of many variants of Anubias barteri.
Like virtually all Anubias plants, it is extremely hardy, undemanding, and can thrive in a variety of water parameters.
This variant is unique in that it has visibly ruffled, oval-shaped leaves. Also, in its early stages, its leaves are often brown in coloration.
As the plant grows, this brown coloration eventually turns to the deep green that is typical of Anubias plants.
This variation, like other Anubias, is a blooming plant that thrives when its rhizome is attached to a hard surface like wood or stones.
They require low to medium light and can benefit from fertilizing regularly.
CO₂ isn’t required, although it can help with faster development and stronger leaves.
The leaves are susceptible to algae growth if placed under intense light because it is a slow grower.
Care Tips
- The ideal placement in the aquarium is in the middle ground, and it will look best under low to moderate lighting.
- It grows best when anchored to driftwood or rockwork. The rhizome (roots) of this plant can be put in the substrate, but it should not be buried because it will decay and recede.
