An air stone, also known as an aquarium bubbler, is a piece of aquarium furniture, traditionally made of lime wood or porous stone, whose purpose is to gradually diffuse air into the tank, eliminating the noise and large bubbles associated with traditional air filtration systems while also providing other health benefits to the fish.

Air stones come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and coarseness levels, ranging from extremely rough, which produces larger (though often imperceptible) bubbles and allows more oxygen in, to extremely fine, which produces minuscule bubbles.
